Please use this link to register for the competition and receive updated information on the competition. The entry deadline is July 1, 2026.
The Compete USA/ Learn to Skate Competition offers insight into the competitive world of figure skating while focusing on how fun figure skating can be. Skaters compete with their friends and perform the moves they learn in their Basic Skills classes. It is perfect for beginner competitors through Preliminary skaters!!
What to Know:
- The purpose of the Compete USA competition is to promote a FUN, introductory, competitive experience to our beginner skaters.
- Skaters of every age and level in learn-to-skate group classes, even beginner skaters, are eligible to compete. There are events for our SNOWPLOW SAM skaters!! Skaters compete using elements learned in their Basic Skills classes.
- We encourage all eligible Learn To Skate skaters to compete.
- Events include Snowplow Sam, Basic 1-6, Aspire 1-4 (Pre-Free Skate – Free Skate 4), Pre-preliminary through Preliminary Excel, Adult 1-6, Adult Beginner-Bronze, Spin & Jump Challenge, and Compulsory.
- The skater will be asked to perform the elements listed on the application. While the skater is performing the elements required there will be three judges assessing the skater. The judges are made up of the coaches from our Learn to Skate program.
- Elements: The Basic Elements portion of the competition is similar to one of our test sessions for Learn to Skate Badges. The judge tells the skater what to perform, and the skater shows the judge they can do the move (snowplow stop, spiral, inside three turn, etc.). The skaters go out on the ice in a small group with others in the same level/group.
- All competitors receive a medal on the podium (a great photo opportunity!).
- Each level of the competition will consist of a group or flight of 3-4 skaters.
- Skaters do not need a private coach to participate, though some might find it helpful.
- Skaters may compete at their highest level passed or one level higher, but not in both levels at the same event. *Example: a skater who has passed Badge 5 can compete in Badge 5 or 6.
- Skaters of every level in learn-to-skate group classes are eligible to compete, even very beginner skaters.
Skaters may skate in multiple events.
- The cost of the first event is $55.00 and $20.00 for each additional event.
